Maggie Q Gets Divergent
Zoe Kravitz & more up for YA adaptation

Mission: Impossible III, Maggie Q

When she’s not busy being a deadly female assassin on the US telly drama adapted from Nikita, Maggie Q likes to spend her time being deadly on the big screen. Now she might be going for something a little less action-packed, but more dramatic, as she’s won a role alongside Zoe Kravitz and Ansel Elgort in Divergent.

Shailene Woodley, currently at work as Mary Jane on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, is on to star as Tris, a young woman who grows up in a future society divided into factions according to different human traits. Everyone is sorted into the appropriate group at 16, but Tris is one of those who could conceivably join more than one faction, which then rockets her into an adventure.

Q is set to play tattoo artist Tori, part involved in the choosing ceremony and someone who ends up helping Tris. Kravitz (whose casting means two generations of her family are acting in young adult book-derived films, what with dad Lenny as one of the Hunger Games ensemble) is Christina, a member of the brave Dauntless faction who befriends our heroine. As for Elgort, he’ll be Caleb, Tris’ twin brother, who causes problems when he eschews his own Abnegation clan to join the Erudite faction.

Neil Burger, who made The Illusionist and Limitless, is directing from Evan Daugherty’s script. He’s set to kick off shooting later this month in Chicago.

Q was last seen in Priest and has no other films set up right now, as her TV schedule keeps her busy. Kravitz has After Earth up next and Elgot will be part of the Carrie remake cast when that film arrives on November 29.
