HBO Set For Bored To Death Movie
Neo-noir sitcom refuses to die

23 January 2013  |  Written by Ali Plumb  |  Source: Hollywood Reporter

Bored To Death

If you thought HBO's neo-noir sitcom Bored To Death had, um, died a death when it shuffled off the premium cable television network's slate two years ago, think again, because Bored To Death is coming back to life... in film form.

Between 2009 and 2011, Bored To Death starred Jason Schwartzman as bumbling private-investigator-cum-writer Jonathan Ames, Zach Galifianakis as his comic book artist best friend Ray Hueston and Ted Danson as George Christopher, Jonathan's editor and kinda-sorta-father figure.

Together they investigated crimes and attempted to make you laugh in a criminal fashion. Unfortunately, this all came to an abrupt end during its third and final season, when a time change and falling figures saw the end of the show - or so you thought.

Now, the movie has a strapline of "Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds and fail at love in a Bored to Death feature-length slapstick adventure!", with writer/creator Jonathan Ames - yep, he gave his lead character his own name - back at his typing desk to create a story where Jonathan becomes a policeman and Ray and George become roommates.

Who will direct and when it'll start shooting/be released remains to be seen, but for fans of the show, this is huge, Arrested-Development-coming-back-to-TV-thanks-to-Netflix-like news.

RE:
Excellent news this show was taken off air far too soon. More

Too clever and self aware for its own good I thought, and lacking in humour and entertainment as a result. Sorry, but I think this died a death for a reason, and cannot see it making a stir on the big screen. Strange decision.... More

Really enjoyed this show and was very disappointed when it got cancelled. I wonder if they'll address the very odd ending of the third season, will Isle Fisher be back More
