Ubisoft Prepare Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
Another game adaptation, anyone?

Assassin's Creed and Michael Fassbender. Splinter Cell and Tom Hardy. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and... well, that remains to be seen, but at least there's now been confirmation that Ubisoft Motion Pictures guru Jean-Julien Baronnet is assembling a pitch for a Ghost Recon movie, and judging by the work on Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell, it's a decent bet it'll come to pass.

Both of those two gaming franchises' adaptations are set to cost "$100 million each and to come out no earlier than late 2014," according to Baronnet and the L.A. Times, with no details on Ghost Recon as yet.

Unlike Assassin's Creed - and to a lesser extent, Splinter Cell - the Ghost Recon franchise has a limited number of concrete plotlines to follow, with the fun of the game centring on military squad-based tactics and distinctive high tech weaponary. So far there have been 12 Ghost Recon games, from the eponymous original to the most recent Ghost Recon Future Soldier, so there's plenty of material to chose from.

There has been an attempt at dramatising Ghost Recon previously, with the 25-minute Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Alpha short film serving as a pseudo-preface to 2012's Ghost Recon Future Soldier, which you can check out at the end of this new story.

As well as Ghost Recon, Baronnet also mentioned that a TV show of the Raving Rabbids is in the works, with Nickelodeon making sure that the lunacy-flavoured kids' gaming franchise will also see the light of day outside consoles.

No dates for the Assassin's Creed movie, the Splinter Cell movie or the Ghost Recon movie have been confirmed, so watch this space - and this Ghost Recon short film, if you have the time...

RE: My Vote
The only contribution Tom Clancy makes to Ubi Soft games is his name and that is it. Hence why the later Tom Clancy's games has appalling plots and realism of a self regenerating one man army vs a few hundreds. What Ubi Soft is making isn't a Tom Clancy's film but a video game adaptation. More

Jai Courtney or Sullivan Stapleton. More

Hmm if Assassin's Creed has Fassbender, and Splinter Cell has Tom Hardy, I would nominate some hip young guys like Channing Tatum, or Liam Hemsworth, maybe Jeremy Renner or Ryan Gosling. More
