Morten Tyldum Playing Imitation Game
He's set to direct the Turing tale

04 December 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Hot script Imitation Game has been tumbling away in the development saucepan for a while now. And though at least one other director has come and gone, it appears that Headhunters director Morten Tyldum might finally be the man to get it made.

Graham Moore’s script, which hit the Black List in 2011, is a drama based on the life of Alan Turing, who worked on cracking the German Enigma code during World War II.

Despite his historic contribution to the war effort, he was criminally prosecuted in the early 1950s for his homosexuality and chose chemical castration over prison. But the witchhunt against him proved so stressful that he ended up committing suicide.

Warners bought the script back in October 2011, with Leonardo DiCaprio hopping aboard to produce and, the studio hoped, star. But that never quite came together, despite The Disappearance Of Alice Creed director J. Blakeson negotiating to take it on earlier this year.

Now Black Bear Pictures is in charge of getting the film made, and Tyldum is aboard to direct. This is one we'll be keeping a close eye on...
