Dark Skies Trailer Screams In
Invaders must pry

21 November 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Fandango

Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions have largely focused on found footage or other low budget horrors, but it now appears that the producer is stretching a little bit. Dark Skies isn’t a huge leap, but does at least appear to be sprinkling a little sci-fi into the scare recipe. Check out the trailer above.

Dark Skies (nothing to do with the cult paranoia series that briefly tried to ride the X-Files mania back in the late 1990s) follows Keri Russell and Josh Hamilton as Lacey and Daniel Barret, a seemingly happy couple.

They live a regular life in the suburbs with their sons. But strange things start happening: odd lights, a weird home invasion and scary encounters. And then it all gets really crazy, as marks appear on their younger son’s body and the boys start to act as though they’re possessed. But instead of demons, could it be aliens targeting them for some dark purpose? Given what we see in the trailer, we’re going with a big ol’ yessir.

Our only concern here is the presence of director Scott Stewart, who disappointed with Legion and Priest. But perhaps he's due a hit, and a smaller scale might work for him.

We’ll all see when Dark Skies arrives on February 22.
