RZA Wants To Get Happy!
Adapting a Grant Morrison title

09 October 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Having tapped one of his passions – kung-fu movies – for his directorial debut The Man With The Iron Fists, Wu-Tang Clan frontman RZA is looking to another for a future project. He’s currently setting up an adaptation of Grant Morrison’s latest comic book title, Happy!

The typically odd book focuses on Nick Sax, a crooked, corrupt former cop who now makes his money as a hit man. When his latest job goes bad and he’s left seriously injured, he begins seeing Happy, a relentlessly cheerful little blue horse who refuses to let Nick give up.

Despite his many objections, Nick teams up with Happy to save the life of a troubled kid in the days leading up to Christmas. Imagine the Care Bears wandering into Sin City and you’re part of the way there.

Morrison, who created the book with artist Darick Robertson, is planning to write the script for the film, which will be developed by Django Unchained producer Reginald Hudlin for RZA to direct.

The Man With The Iron Fists hits (and kicks and stabs) our screens on December 7. Morrison is also developing a film project with Barry Sonnenfeld called Dominion: Dinosaurs Vs Aliens. Check out the trailer for that below.

Your Comments

Hmm never read this...
I am a great fan of Grant Morrison. His comics are by far some of the craziest things I have read (check out Action Comics featuring Superman or Batman Incorporated to see what I mean) but I have never noticed this until yesterday! About time he started writing screenplays, I look forward to seeing it! Now must find Happy! and read some... More
