New Trailer For The Watch
Now with more Richard Ayoade

24 May 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Team Coco

While we completely understand the decision for the team behind alien invasion comedy The Watch’s trailers to push Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill to the forefront for US audiences, we’ve been hoping we might see a little more from IT Crowd / Submarine icon Richard Ayoade. Fortunately, this latest promo, courtesy of Conan O’Brien’s show, at least gives us a brief sampling. Check it out below.

The movie finds Stiller, Vaughn, Hill and Ayoade as four blokes in a seemingly sleepy suburban US town who form a neighbourhood watch group as a way to get out of boring family chores like, er, spending time with their families.

But while it all starts as a chance for a little male bonding, they soon discover that all is not what it seems in the area, and that they might actually have to stand up and fight an incursion by nasty, lizard-like extra-terrestrials.

After sidestepping and hiding the sci-fi element before, the film’s marketing is now making it front and centre (probably to avoid comparisons to recent real-life neighbour hood watch controversies in the US), so do be careful of mild spoilers. We’re just hoping they’re not giving away all the good gags in the trailers.

The Watch will land on August 29.
