From the sounds of it, this coming week will be a busy one for all of us who are eagerly anticipating Rian Johnson’s Looper. The Brick director and his team are planning to tease us all with trailer snippets (though if you’re not a fan of those, the full promo should arrive on Thursday), and have kicked things off by putting the poster up online.
It’s certainly a compelling image for the film, which finds Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis as two versions of one man, present and future.
Looper, of course, is set in a world where time travel has become possible, but is strictly limited and highly illegal because of the obvious complications. Naturally, criminals get their hands on the tech at some point in the future and start using it to send victims back in time to be killed at a moment where they can’t be traced. “Loopers” are the hit men employed to do the deed and make sure the bodies vanished, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Joe is among the best. But he’s shocked to discover that the latest person to arrive is… an older version of himself.
That’s about as much as Johnson and co have revealed so far, though we’ll learn more once the trailer is online. We’ll give plenty of warning, though, in case spoilerphobes want to avoid so much as a glance at it.
Update: Wanting to avoid spoilers? Then don't click below, as the trailer tease (possibly the first of two leading up to the promo on Thursday) is online and can be watched below. Enjoy Rian Johnson and Joseph Gordon Levitt introducing the concept of the film and showing brief glimpses from the full trailer...

This sounds like an intriguing premise. Hoping its considerably better than Brick - I know it was much lauded on release but never has a film been so self-aware and trying to be different, and lacking any sense of entertainment. It was boring and pretentious to the point of distraction. However, this has promise, if it delivers something a little different.
On paper BRICK sounds like it should be awful, but it ended up being one of my favorite films of the past 10 year More
