Total Recall Trailer Online
The full promo arrives...

02 April 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Apple

submit to reddit

You got a taste of the Total Recall trailer last week, but now the full version has arrived online, bringing lots more footage and – for anyone not already familiar with Philip K Dick’s story or the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie – a little bit more of the plot. Head on over to Apple’s site to see it. Happy trails…

This take on Total Recall (with Len Wiseman in the director’s chair) finds Colin Farrell as Douglas Quaid, a man in a quandary. While he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale), he’s feeling stuck in a rut, wanting more out of his existence than just labouring away in a factory in New Shanghai. So when he hears about Rekall, the company that promises to load your memory up with your wildest fantasies, he decides to give them a whirl.

Unfortunately for Quaid, his chosen secret agent package has barely started downloading into his noggin when alarms blare and the staff at the facility react in horror. But there’s no time to worry about that, as armed police storm the room. Despite his claim’s that he’s just an ordinary working schmoe, Quaid dispatches the officers and is soon on the run, leading to him finding out about a whole resistance movement – and his previous dealings with it.

This time around we get a look at Bryan Cranston as scheming politician Vilos Cohaagen, and even the briefest flash of Bill Nighy as rebel leader Kuato. Not to mention a glimpse of the smack down between Beckinsale’s duplicitous Lori and Jessica Biel’s heroic Melina, and a hint towards a holographic homage to Arnie’s trouble with masks…

Total Recall will be out on August 22. Reports that Sony will set up mind-wiping booths to encourage repeat visits, are, of course, strictly in the realms of fantasy. Probably. What were we saying again?

So what do you think?
I would get my ass all the way to Mars to see this. So excited!
Dick-tastic! By which I mean that I love this author's sci-fi and am intrigued
Needs more multiple boobies. Where are the triple norks?
I miss Arnie.

RE: Total Recall Trailer Online
Farrell is the only real draw in this for me at the moment, Beckinsale and Beil, sure they are pretty but have never really convinced and I've never found them engaging or interesting in any role I've seen. Wiseman, well, say no more. I was hoping the trailer might stoke some interest for me but although having a few interesting money shots it was very poorly put together. Hopefully a second trailer will redeem it or I'll be waiting a while and watch this at home. More

I'm going to go against the grain here and actually give a film which I haven't seen yet...a chance.   From the trailer I think it looks like a pretty decent actioner. Shame they've outed the 'wife' charatcer though. More

Come on: it looks a lot better than I thought it would. Farrell looks decent, alright FX and the dynamic duo of Beckinsale AND Biel! It was never going to be like the original and it looks exaclt ylike other recent films, Could be solid fun though.     Anyone else notice the blatant Bourne rip off? Hands on head away from police (same camera angle) and then suddenly disposes of multiple enemies. At least try a different approach! More

Did anyone else get a "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" vibe off the whole look and feel of the film? was the first thought I had. "Someone played through HENGSHA!" RE: Total Recall Trailer Online
The actual trailer is not cut together very well. The film, against all odds, actually looks pretty intriguing. Farrell is just as incredible as I'd suspected he would be, and the look of the film feels fresh and exciting. The trailer's construction doesn't live up to the footage. I know it's a Len Wiseman movie so I have no reason to hope for the best, but I've long wanted to see Farrell tackle something like this, and for his sake I am pulling for the film to be a rousing success. they still let Len Wiseman make movies, this just shows the closed elitist culture of hollywood, its good technology these days liberates the medium in Monster, District 9 etc. And to add insult to injury he puts his wife in every movie, hes gonna butcher a good book like he did Die Hard series More

Why is this a remake?!
I thought the whole point of this movie was to be faithful to "We'll Remember It For You Wholesale." This is just a remake of what was, let's be honest, a fairly dodgy Arnie movie (which we all enjoy ironically or as a guilty pleasure) which strayed very far from the source material. I am disappointed by the trailer, looks quite poor despite the presence of the superb Cranston. More
