Walker Writing 20,000 Leagues
He's finding Nemo with David Fincher

18 November 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

David Fincher has been trying to get his Disney-sponsored remake of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea afloat for a while now. But though scriptwriters have come and gone and casting rumours have bobbed up here and there, the ever-careful director hasn’t yet found what he’s looking for. So now he’s turned to an old cohort, with Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker clambering aboard to take a crack.

20,000 Leagues will be a fresh look at Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo and the creation of his war sub the Nautilus. But since this is a film for the Mouse House (which made and released the classic original back in 1954), we have to doubt that there will be anything quite as dark as the investigation undertaken by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman in Fincher and Walker’s last collaboration.

Walker, who also wrote 8MM, Sleepy Hollow and The Wolfman, will get to work shortly. But don’t count on it being Fincher’s next film – though he’s just about finished on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, he has a number of other possible projects competing for his attention. Still, with Walker on the case, we’re intrigued to see just what form the new Nemo will take…

RE: Walker Writing 20,000 Leagues
Great news - Walker and Fincher usually work very well together (he did some uncredited work on lubo this bodes well for the film. More
