Jackson Confirmed For Tintin 2
But there's no go-ahead yet...

Jackson Confirmed For Tintin 2

It’s not exactly news that Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg agreed to take on one entry each in their planned Tintin trilogy. But now the two filmmakers have finally given some official confirmation that Jackson will get to work on the second film once they receive the go-ahead from their studio backers.

“Sony and Paramount were willing to do one movie with us and then give us the financial wherewithal to develop a script, do all the visual storyboards and get it really in launch position. So we can launch pretty quickly on a second movie. The script is already written,” Spielberg explained to the Hollywood Reporter (via The Playlist).

The script, or at least one of the drafts, comes from author Anthony Horowitz, who was hired last year to develop a story based on an amalgam of two adventures: Prisoners Of The Sun and The Seven Crystal Balls. The finished product will likely be called The Adventures Of Tintin: Prisoners Of The Sun and find the boy reporter and Captain Haddock investigating the spread of a mysterious illness that befalls explorers who dared to violate a scared Incan tomb.

Of course, we’ll have to wait once more – Jackson is a little busy right bringing the two Hobbit adventures to life. But with the positive buzz the first Tintin is already getting, it could well end up a big success at the box office, which would in turn trigger the necessary approval for him to work on the sequel when he’s finally ready. And who knows? Maybe someone else could step in for the second movie and Jackson could switch to the third. Either way, the good news is that we're pretty much certain to see Professor Calculus in the next outing, and that can only be a good thing.

RE: Jackson Confirmed For Tintin 2
As far as I understand it they will take a break between filming of The Hobbit Part 1 and part 2, and seeing as it only took 30 days to shoot the Tintin movie, a second one could easily be done in between production of The Hobbit. More

RE: Jackson Confirmed For Tintin 2
Im sure there was a story on (or in) Empire a while back where they said PJ had already set aside a shooting schedule for this, while shooting the Hobbit? Would be great to have this filmed next year then released in the following (says me whose only seeing the first one in December More

I'm /i] looking forward to Jackson directing this. Although I also realise that it won't be for ages, at least not until bitare made anyway. More

Incan Tombs are often scared of being violated
Exciting stuff. The first film looks great and I'm going to see it tomorrow (though sadly not in 3D). Whether Jackson takes a break from Middle Earth or someone else steps in to make Prisoners of the Sun, I don't mind as long as they deliver it to us soon. Of course, I'd prefer that both The Hobbit and Tintin get the full attention they deserve to be good, as history repeatedly shows that even great directors, when overseeing multiple directing projects, can disappoint (just see Robert Zemeckis' More

RE: Jackson Confirmed For Tintin 2
Wasn't Jackson's plan to take a break in the middle of bituction to film Tintin 2 anyway? Given that it's motion-capture, it wouldn't take too long to shoot. More

Yes please.
I really hope the first one does good enough to start filming the sequel :) Especially when it's directed by Jackson himself. More
