New Poster For The Phantom Menace
Those 3D Star Wars are rolling out

14 October 2011  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: IMP Awards

submit to reddit

They've been rolling closer for some time now, but here's real proof that the Star Wars 3D reissues are really, actually, honestly happening, with a poster for The Phantom Menace. It's back, and this time it's stereoscopic.

You'll note that the poster designers have emphasised the more popular elements of the film here: Darth Maul is front and centre, Ewan McGregor and Yoda get a look in, but Jake Lloyd and Jar Jar are nowhere to be seen. Contrast this with the original poster back in 1999 below, where both got a shot.

We're not quite sure why the still-popular Liam Neeson and Natalie Portman have lost their spot, however; presumably it's simply to make this one look different to 1999's, or perhaps it's more important to remind us that there will be pod-racing and space battles in 3D. The teaser's still the best of the lot though.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is out in 3D on February 10, 2012.

Menaced By Reissues Again
I wouldn't waste another 2 hours of my life watching the bloody Phantom Menace again. Apart from Darth Maul, it's all filler material and embarrassing filler material at that (Jar Jar, the pointless space battle with little Anakin, Natalie Portman's phoney English accent that mysteriously disappears in the sequels and that midi-Chlorians "explanation" of the Force). Lucas should really have combined all three prequels into one good 3-hour movie...oh shit, I've just given him another id More

I just bought the blu-ray set and I don't regret it because they look fantastic. But enough of the milking of the the Star Wars cow George. What's next? Hey, how about finding a way to convert the Star Wars Saga to IMAX. You could then release it in the theaters and follow that up by releasing a DVD set in 3D IMAX Blu-Ray. WOW! More
