Hayley Atwell Testing For One Shot
Against Alexa Davalos and Rosamund Pike

15 August 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Heat Vision Blog

Hayley Atwell Testing For One Shot

While there has been plenty of negative outcry about the vertically-challenged Tom Cruise playing hulking military policeman turned vigilante drifter/investigator Jack Reacher in the adaptation of Lee Child’s One Shot, Cruise and writer/director Chris McQuarrie are ploughing on ahead regardless. And now they’re busy narrowing down who will play the female lead, with Hayley Atwell, Alexa Davalos and Rosamund Pike all in the running.

Atwell, of course, is currently on screens as Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger. Pike has nabbed recent acclaim for her work in Barney’s Version and, before that, An Education. And then there’s Davalos, who has the likes of Clash of the Titans, Defiance and The Mist among her credits.

While the three are all seemingly frontrunners, it’s still possible that a dark horse could sneak in and take the role being tested, that of a tough lawyer and daughter of a district attorney who crosses paths with Reacher. The story finds him getting dragged into the mysterious circumstances of a sniper arrested for the alleged killing of five random people.

McQuarrie is aiming to start shooting this autumn in Pittsburgh.

it might work.
I don't want to write it off yet. The only other issue with adapting One Shot (great entry in the Reacher series) is that much of the suspense is created by the secret identity of the badguy, now, on the page it's easily to conceal things, but I can't see how they'll pull it off on screen?? More

Irrelevant
Reporting n this film is pointless as I and many other Lee Child/Jack Reacher fans will not be watching it!!!! The abomination that is the casting of Tom Cruise has made this film unwatchable and subsequently unnewsworthy! More

FLASHMAN
Despite her non-part in Captain America, stunning H Atwell can act, but Rosamund Pike can do funny, haughty, tough, elegant and - as we saw in Barney's Version - tender & vulnerable too; never heard of the other actress; wasn't she a Dr Who villain? More

Totally agree that this is misscasting!
Have read Child since the Killing Floor. Reacher is 'The Rock' stature or Jason Mamoa not the likes of Cruise. He will need to wear some hell of a big platforms to pull this off! More

Damn you Cruise!
Massive fan of Lee Child and Cruise but that is the worst bit of casting ever More
