Spielberg Confirms Jurassic Park IV Work
Spielberg Confirms Jurassic Park IV Work
'We have a story...'

23 July 2011  |  Written by James White

You may recall that last month, word leaked out about Steven Spielberg spitballing ideas for a fourth trip to Jurassic Park. Well, as part of his first-ever trip to Comic-Con, Spielberg was asked directly about the issue during the panel for Tintin today. And he was happy to open up on the matter.

“We have a story, I can happily announce,” Spielberg said to the cheering crowds in Hall H. “We have a writer who is writing the treatment and hopefully we are going to make Jurassic Park IV in all of your foreseeable futures – all of our foreseeable futures – hopefully, in the next two or three years.”

While he wouldn’t be drawn on the name of the writer, those recent reports had I Am Legend’s Mark Protosevich as the man who was at least helping to develop the ideas. Whether he stays aboard to actually crank out the script is another matter.

And, naturally, Spielberg wouldn’t be drawn on any details, but for now we can at least content ourselves with the idea that the man who helped launched the Jurassic Park movies is actively involved in bringing us another one. The big question is… does the world truly need one? Guess we’ll find out in a couple of years.

RE: RE:
Click on the article, then click on Speilberg spitballing ideas for JP...That will take you towards the thread with ideas for a new film. I particularly like how the Jurassic Park: Safari idea develops over the course of the thread, but am rather biased towards my own suggestion, naturally More

RE:
If not a prequel then I dont see any future in the series... Unless they go for an all out Planet of the Ape style Dinosaur takeother but that would be stupid. Apart from ending on a high which JP3 did not do, I don't think they have any reason to make another. Unless they have come up with a good story that is. More

Fall back on the franchises
It'll be more interesting in a year or so if and when they have a workable script. When Spielberg decides it's worth his time directing or taking a seat further back as producer, that's usually a good indicator of whether it'll be worth watching. More

Oi! Spielberg! Fuck off and do something else, learn from Lucas that you don't have to squeeze every last drop of money out of a franchise. More

RE: May it go on and on
Hard to see what the story for a JP prequel could possibly be about. If dinos don't run amok, there's no pay off and it's pretty nigh on impossible to ret-con a run amok scenario that isn't referred to in JP1 More
