Rhys Ifans Joining Bond 23?
And it'll largely shoot in South Africa

18 July 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Telegraph

Rhys Ifans Joining Bond 23?

It would seem that Daniel Craig’s James Bond will have to contend with an old enemy in the next 007 outing. But not one of Bond’s former nemeses, one of Craig’s. Yes, Rhys Ifans, who as Jed caused no end of trouble for Craig’s Joe in Enduring Love, has apparently been cast in Bond 23.

While word of the casting comes from the Telegraph, its presence in the Mandrake gossip column has us holding it the rumour pen until there’s some official confirmation. And there’s no indication who exactly Ifans would be playing, though it would certainly be fun to see him making Craig’s life a misery once again as the pair definitely had a twisted chemistry in Enduring Love.

The column also appears to confirm that Javier Bardem is locked and loaded to play the big villain, and mentions that Sam Mendes will be shooting a big chunk of the movie in South Africa. Other than that, few details of the new movie have leaked out other than the fact that it’ll arrive on these shores on October 26 next year, where as our transatlantic cousins will have to wait until November 9.

RE:FLASHMAN
I personally think that Ralph Fiennes will play Q and Javier Bardem will play Scaramanga but im unsure on Ifans if im honest Blofeld maybe? More

FLASHMAN
Between his look, behaviour and previous on-screen history with D. Craig, he would make an ideal Q. More

Enduring love? Wow. I actually watched that as part of my A-Level studies...one of the most unfaithful adaptations i've ever seen....but then, the book wasn't much good either More

It's amazing how many people think the globe trotting playboy is a true reflection of the Bond character, get into your narrow minded thick head Early Connery, Lazenby, Dalton & now Craig are much more the 007 that was written by Fleming. Look Moore was my first Bond experience but that Bond had a time and a place and as someone had said that had to change after Austin Powers. More

i cant quite believe the comment from 00NO. I know everyone has an opinion and is free to express it but please! Bond is a killer. he's supposed to be a spy, a cold hearted blunt instrument. Not some charmer that lifts an eyebrow at every turn. Although i do love the roger moore films. Gadgets and one liners have a time and a place and it was before they made Austin powers. After that Bond had to change or risk being a spoof of bond! Casino Royale is the best bond film and Quantum was still enjo More

Its good that Bond movies have changed in there tone. They are still Bond movies but are more real, edgy and terrifce Bond in Craig but next movie gota b better than Quantum , which was too short and story not good More

RE: 00NO
With respect, JensonJet, I can only assume you've never read a Bond book. James Bond has always bordered on casual murder, and Quantum of Solace is perhaps the best reflection of this since Connery casually murdered the professor in Dr No. Sorry Jenson; your argument is a Smith and Wesson, and you've had your six. In response to 00NO, Craigs last Bond, u mad? I wasnt mad about him doing it but he is the best bond since Connery and in books he is a violent tug and he should b in movies, they have done the 1 liners and over the top villians for years, its good its more real and genuine excitement and threats,. Do u want more Die Another Days with a joke in every line More

Fingers crossed this is the last Daniel Craig Bond. Nothing against the actor, but he's no Bond. Bond was never the violent thug portrayed in this new series. And since when did Bond look like a cast-off from EastEnders? Still, if this isn't the last, there can only be one or two more before Bond's back on track again. More
