The teaser trailer for Marcus Nispel’s take on Robert E Howard’s cult barbarian favourite Conan the Barbarian was more like a fever dream dreamt up by a marketing executive after a night spent on acid. It was also severely underwhelming. Now, however, the full trailer has arrived and can be watched below. With the few tweaks to the storyline, the new movie follows some of the roughly similar plot points to John Milius’ 1982 original – Conan the Cimmerian (Jason Momoa) sets out across the land of Hyboria to avenge his village’s destruction and his father’s death. He’ll get help from the sexy Tamara (Rachel Nicols) and face trouble from the evil Khalar Zym (Stephen Lang, dipping back into the well of bad guys). It’s a fairly basic trailer – a little story, lots of shots of Momoa fighting and the odd creature or two (plus Rose McGowan as witchy woman Marique). We’re still not 100% sold, but it’s a definite improvement. It is, however, weird to watch Jason Momoa playing the central character after watching Game of Thrones… Check out the trailer and let us know if you think it’s best in life. Conan the Barbarian will see his enemies driven before him and hear the lamentation of the women (and everyone else if it doesn't turn out well) in 3D on August 26. |
