New Conan Trailer Arrives
'No man should live in chains...'

05 May 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Yahoo

The teaser trailer for Marcus Nispel’s take on Robert E Howard’s cult barbarian favourite Conan the Barbarian was more like a fever dream dreamt up by a marketing executive after a night spent on acid. It was also severely underwhelming. Now, however, the full trailer has arrived and can be watched below.

With the few tweaks to the storyline, the new movie follows some of the roughly similar plot points to John Milius’ 1982 original – Conan the Cimmerian (Jason Momoa) sets out across the land of Hyboria to avenge his village’s destruction and his father’s death.

He’ll get help from the sexy Tamara (Rachel Nicols) and face trouble from the evil Khalar Zym (Stephen Lang, dipping back into the well of bad guys). It’s a fairly basic trailer – a little story, lots of shots of Momoa fighting and the odd creature or two (plus Rose McGowan as witchy woman Marique). We’re still not 100% sold, but it’s a definite improvement. It is, however, weird to watch Jason Momoa playing the central character after watching Game of Thrones…

Check out the trailer and let us know if you think it’s best in life.

Conan the Barbarian will see his enemies driven before him and hear the lamentation of the women (and everyone else if it doesn't turn out well) in 3D on August 26.

Jason doesn't come across as the Barbarian type. The film does look interesting but it could be another Scorpian King! More

RE:
L: Big Red Looks even less like Howard's Conan than Millius' version, which I still love regardless. This looks like fun but it doesn't feel anything like Conan. xactly. This could be "The Scorpions King Reloaded" if not for the title and some pretty girl shouting "Coooooonaannnn". This looks indeed worse than what I expected from the first (already underwhelming) teaser and some of the released images. But given who's sitting in the director's chair that's hardly surprising. t I seri More

RE:
"No man should live in chains"? OK that statement has me more concerned than any of the overuse of 'CGI, permed hair, Islander vs Norther European, or X Box action' reasons (all of which are also concerning...). Its so not a Conan statement. He's all about agressive arrogance and wouldnt give a damn if others are in chains. "No man will put me and chains and live" is more in line with the REH character. It doesnt matter how blood soaked this movie is or the production values if Conan More

RE: New Conan Trailer Arrives
L: PaulTree11 Sorry, this looks like a PG-13 attempt at a franchise cash-cow. Awful all around and will only get good reviews / comments from tweens who have no idea. If I'd wanted the Conan logo stamped on what looks like a mash-up of 300/Spartacus (tv show)/The Mummy/Conan the Destroyer and Pirates of the Carribean I'd be there with skulls on. But no. Sorry. I mean if cringing was what they wanted me to do, they succeeded. Basically, this is average, safe and predictable (as you can a More
