Cowboys And Aliens Teaser Is Here
Craig! Ford! Wilde! Cowboys! Aliens!

17 November 2010  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Yahoo Movies

If you were at all jealous of those who got to watch footage from Jon Favreau’s genre mash-up Cowboys and Aliens at Comic-Con and Movie-Con this past summer, prepare to bask in the glow of equality, because the teaser trailer has arrived online and you can enjoy it below.

The film finds Daniel Craig as Jake Lonergan, a moody cowpoke who wakes up in the desert outside of Silver City, Arizona with some lost time and little memory of what happened. One thing is clear, though – he’s a badass and he’s got a strange technological gizmo wrapped around one wrist.

When he gets to the city itself, it seems like many people in town know him, including Olivia Wilde’s Ella and the tough-as-old-boots Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford), who rules the place with an iron fist and a scowl that could curdle milk. Soon, though, everyone is forced to shove personal conflicts aside when nasty invaders from space arrive and start shooting the place up, and abducting people. What do they want? Why are they here? And can the various Western types band together with the local native population to fight ‘em?

From the off this looks like a fun summer romp with Craig and Ford in particular getting their brief moments to shine. This is the sort of teaser that makes you pay attention to little details and it certainly has us itching to see more. For now, watch this first chunk of footage and let us know your thoughts.

Cowboys and Aliens is out on August 12 next year.

L: Emyr Thy King L: UTB Knowing nothing about the source material, the title makes it sound like it's going to be The Three Amigos vs ET. Far too serious to be taken seriously for my liking.  t's acting dear, it's not meant to be taken seriously. h don't worry, it looks hilariously shit. More

Far too serious to be taken seriously for my liking.  t's acting dear, it's not meant to be taken seriously. However, it looks seriously entertaining and I much prefer such a genre mix to be done properly rather than as a farce or comedy. More

RE: COwboys vs Aliens
It's shocking that a film about cowboys and aliens could possibly look so dull and uninteresting. More

I like the serious tone. It actually compliments how silly the entire thing is. I call such an effect the "The Peter Weller effect". More

L: darth silas Looks like shit to be honest. For a film with such a silly title and premise,it appears to be taking itself far too seriously. Also, the trailer to give away a lot of the films plot.ote] what, like there's cowboys and aliens in it??? Well I never Looked pretty decent, didnt know Speilberg had his name attached either. Yeah, I reckon it'll be worth a watch More

RE:
I think the trailer looks really good. Daniel Craig's character seems a bit of a mute but if they're going for the classic quiet hardman type then fine. I really like the genre blend - sci-fi/fantasy meets western. It actually works quite well. Regarding the comment about the film taking itself too seriously. One can say so about any film where it's merely just fancy dress with a little 'play acting'. I look forward to it. More

Looks pretty good. As a huge fan of Westerns though, I found myself loving all of the trailer (especially Ford, in what appears to be a cracking role for him), until it goes all Men in Black. Could be great, could a massive waste of talent and money... Never mind, at least True Grit is just around the corner. More

L: bigdog1000 looks pretty good. a bit disappointed in the effects though, not editing out wires is a poor show lad I wasnt the only one who noticed the wire. Were they hoping we wouldnt be able to spot it? I watched it on youtube and the video wasnt picture perfect- but what I saw of the space shifts were pretty naff. Bit dissapointed really as I was betting on a first look of this film being awesome.... much like Green Lantern More

RE: Looks good, BUT...
Those actually looked shit in the trailers.  Throwing names of bad cowboy crossover movies into the air doesn't mean there can't be a good one. More

This'll be a huge success and a great film, just like all the other period-scifi -flicks: Jonah Hex, Wild Wild West and LXG.  More

RE: Looks good, BUT...
Sometimes you get personalities that make a good team.  Good teaser trailer, that's one thing they've already got right.  I don't see why it should be a concern when it is already looking good. More

Looks quite serious which is a pleasant surprise. I'll still wait for reviews though.  More
