January Jones Joins X-Men: First Class
She's replacing Alice Eve as Emma Frost

Dear Matthew Vaughn: do you not listen to a word we say? We told you to stop dishing out the X-Men: First Class casting nuggets one at a time. Did you listen? Did you arse. This one, however, is more of a confirmation taking the place of a rumour, since it appears that Mad Men’s January Jones is stepping in to the role of Emma Frost after Alice Eve couldn’t lock in a shooting schedule or deal.

The woman forever destined to be known as Betty Draper is in as beautiful mutant and telepathic powerhouse Frost, whose allegiance has shifted in her many comic book appearances, with little known about her role in the film.

And at least there is more than one chunk of mutant casting to confirm today, with Deadline additionally reporting that Bill Milner will play a young Magneto and Zoe Kravitz is signed on as Angel (huh? But Angel's a he, isn't he? And Zoe's a she. Are we being terribly post-modern and gender-neutral here, or is Deadline confused - or are we?), while Superhero Hype lists 2012’s Morgan Lily playing the younger version of Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique.

Just in case you haven’t been keeping up with the 10 billion casting announcements to date, the First Class registration list now includes Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Caleb Landry Jones, Nicholas Hoult, Ed Gathegi, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Rose Byrne, Oliver Platt, Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Kevin Bacon (Ed: er, not sure you're right with those last few).

Vaughn will start shooting this month for a planned release date of June 3 2011.

L: agent13 if jones goes english i will loose my shit! now correct me if im wrong, but ive read my xmen and emma frost is the quientisential  stuck up w.a.s.py bitch from boston. jones was top of my list for emma frost so am happy she got it, shes a bit one note but theres a bit of betty draper in emma and shes fab in mad men. wouldve loved scott porter from friday night lights for cycops, but thats never going to happen. the rest of the cast seems really really random...maybe goodman an More

I for one am more concerned with Nicholas Hoult for Beast. he cant act. and regarding the amount of mutants I say bring them on. The line up may not be the same as the originals in the comics but throughout all of the comics there is often changes is origin stories with many characters, its called retroactive continuity and i say why not use it in film too if it'll get more people interested in the characters then wheres the damage? RE: WHO? WHAT????
L: MarcE I'm sure Marvel/X-Men fans will agree with me... verwhelmingly, judging by the responses to this on most of the 'fan forums'. hat would be even better would be for Fox to just stop altogether and give the rights back to Marvel. Not going to happen though unfortunately. More

RE: WHO? WHAT????
I'm beginning to think that there are going to be too many charactors in this. The original X-Men was just Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Angel and Iceman. Their enemies were Magneto, Apocalyspe and Sentinals. I think this could be over cooked somewhat if they try and cram too many mutants. I'm sure Marvel/X-Men fans will agree with me (maybe not!) that it would be nice to see a bare bones installment in keeping with the original strories. Of course for most casual cinema goers, the more mutants the mer More

RE: WHO? WHAT????
Apparently Zoe Kravitz is not playing THE Angel, but Angel rest). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Salvadore Alice Eve apparently asked to be released from her contract due to script changes and that it was in her best interests to leave the project (unconfirmed, but the guy's sources are usually good). http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=21 641 More

RE: Concerned
Great actress, remember seeing her in some Western type film with Tommy Lee Jonest a few years back. Never saw Mad Men. Hopefully she can do a good brit accent. She's hot too! Prefer her to Alice Eve if i'm being honest although Rosamund Pike would have been inspired. Pitty. More
