Schwentke To Get All Red
Flightplan director for Willis & Freeman

Schwentke To Get All Red

It was only days ago that Morgan Freeman joined Bruce Willis in Red, and we remarked then that a director wouldn't be far behind. Sure enough, today Robert Schwentke has signed up to direct the thriller, marking something of a change from his most recent film The Time-Traveler's Wife.

Red sees a hitman (Willis) forced out of retirement when an incoming CIA director panics at how much the former operative knows and orders him to be killed. Turns out that's not such a good idea.

Schwentke's long-delayed (apparently by Eric Bana's hair*) adaptation of the Audrey Niffenegger novel is finally due out on August 14. He previously directed Flightplan, and is also developing Conspiracy of Fools, about the collapse of Enron. Expect this one to leapfrog up his To Do list, however.

*He had to shave it for Star Trek, and then they had to wait for it to grow back to shoot some pick-up scenes.

As long as he can shoot action scenes with a good eye and has a dark sense of humor. As it is an adaption I think they will simply take the premise and run with it as they see fit. I doubt it will be a direct copy of Warren Ellis work. ... Read More

Another Graphic novel made into a film. Good cast but will they keep to the rather dark and violent Warren Ellis story or Bournefy it??? Bruce Willis is a damn good choice to play Paul Moses ( that's if he is) ... Read More
