Hilary Swank Is The Resident Thriller for Hammer films
Hilary Swank has signed on to play The Resident in a new film from Finnish director Antti Jokinen and the newly revitalised Hammer Films.
The story follows a doctor (Swank) who moves into a Brooklyn loft - only to develop the uneasy sense that all is not well and that she is Not Alone. Like, maybe her landlord is a crazed stalker, which makes it really awkward to ask for help when one needs a lightbulb changed.
Joniken, who's best known as a music video director but who has written and directed several TV serials in his native Finland, will be making his feature debut on the project. He also co-wrote the script with Robert Orr (the upcoming Underworld: Rise of the Lycans), before Erin Cressida Wilson, of Secretary fame, did a polish.
Shooting starts in May. Let's hope for the inclusion of such Hammer essentials as white nighties and gauzey curtains blowing in the wind...
Darn. Then there might have been at least one good Resident Evil movie. The premise sounds interesting but they have to keep a carefull eye on this and not fall into the many predictable traps that SO many horror films fall into making them less scary and un-nerving but humdrum and very, very boring. ...
