Beware Of Murderous Muppets
Jim Henson Co. Making Happytime Murders

Anyone who has seen Meet The Feebles or Avenue Q will already know that puppets can be kinda dirrty, but we’re surprised to hear that the Jim Henson Co. is planning to turn its squeaky clean Muppets into murderous n'er do wells.

Variety reports that Jim’s progeny Brian and Lisa Henson are plotting the Happytime Murders, a puppet comedy with a film noir detective spin.

Brian Henson, whose previous credits include Muppet Treasure Island and Empire fave A Muppet Christmas Carol, will direct a story a about a puppet detective who becomes embroiled in a murder case when the cast of a popular children's show, The Happytime Gang, are offed one by one.

To us, it rather sounds like the plot of Death To Smoochy but with added felt and googly eyeballs – and that can’t be a bad thing.

Doesn't Fozzie kill people with his bad jokes?
Only kidding Fozzy, I love ya really. If they keep a darkish edge to it throughout and don't chicken out half/3quarter way through this will be the first Meet the Feebles-esque movie for the 21st century. This and a new Muppet movie I'm in felt heaven. More

RE:
Yeah, but in Smiletime the cast were 'offing' the viewers, not each other - what a brilliant episode that one was! Way up in the top with 'Once more with feeling' I think. Friggin' genius!   Spike: "You're a bloody puppet!!" More

Ahhh...
I miss Muppets. And Jim Henson. This sounds good. I'm pretty sure he did all the creatures in Labrynth as well, yes? In a related matter, is that Fraggles movie still go? Looking forward to that too... More

I believe this was already the plot of an episode of Angel, though the TV show was called "Smiletime" rather than "Happy time" More
