Metal Gear Solid Headed For Screens
Video game hit turns movie

Although we still await with anticipation the big screen outings of Pong and Duck Hunt, the plundering of video games for movie projects continues apace. Sony has just announced that they will turn the hit game franchise Metal Gear Solid into a film.

The Metal Gear games follow the missions of euphemistically named Solid Snake and his cohorts as they fight to bring down terrorists. Since the first game appeared in 1987, the franchise has sold over 20 million units.

Michael De Luca (Ghost Rider, Zathura) will produce the film.

The logical choice for...
Solid Snake. If anyone should be cast to play the "dog of war", it'd be David Hayter or Christian Bale. There was actually talk of Bale reading a script for the role, but nothing has been announced as of late. Whoever thinks Kurt Russel should play the part, is just moronic. People will just compare or be mistaken for the "Plisken Snake" character in John Carpenter's, "Escape From New York" (not to mention he's twice Solid Snakes age). If I had to pick a director More

the real solid snake
that fella who plays soyer in lost. hes got the voice and he is ready to do some different characters after lost so its the perfect option More

i pick eric bana as snake he looks a lot like snake from mgs2, but i would pick tom cruise for mgs1 because for all of you who has seen mission impossible try to remember the still screen picture of his character that they pull up when the government officials are pondering, well he has that stone cold face that snake has in mgs1, they should just use either of them and dub hayters voice over thier voices, but off the subject even though snake is the all star of the story there are still a bunch More

snake
ok first things first. what ever happens Hideo Kojima should have some roll in this movie it is his baby after all. 2nd any 1 wanting kurt russle to do this movie need to be SHOT in the head. get real people. ur fixated on a movie thats older then most people who can remmeber it. a VERY bad idea, and would make no sense. 3rd Hugh Jackman is a posiblilty i think he could pull it off. David Hayter is some 1 that would be good Bcos of the voice he has. it would brige the gap for most us hard More

however....
kurt russel for snake! bring back the old school escape from new york snake! that would be the only way to justify this, More

Sawyer from Lost to be Snake Pliskin
I've been waiting for them to do a Metal Gear movie and I think they're going to do a good one. I reckon that Sawyer from tv show Lost would be an ideal Snake. More

no offense, indysgill, but having Hayter dub over the actor's voice is a pretty dumb idea. it just wouldn't look right, the voice is important to western gamers, but don't forget that Snake's voice is different for every language release. any Japanese I've spoken to dislike his english voice. it's all relative. in my opinion, the look is more important than the voice, although it'd be nice if the actor could make a stab at it More

If they did use Hugh for the role of Snake, the David Hayter needs to come in and dub the voice, ala Andi McDowell in Tarzan, it would be nothing without him. More

Hideo is going to be the executive producer. with him involved in more than just a consulting creative position, it should turn out ok. Hugh Jackman for Snake! More

I've been waiting for this! This is an obvious adaptation. The game itself is so cinematic. I hope Hideo Kojima has a lot of input, even direct? For the game's evidence, i'd say he could pull it off. More

make it good
If they do make it, they better make sure it has a story line like a video game, as well as scenes to make it look like a game movie, just like the movie DOOM was made. More

For F**K Snake!!!!
I really Pray they don't make this film, it will never ever ever live upto the game, i know there are those of you who are probably having wet dreams about the idea of this film. I'm a huge MGS super freak fan, an even bigger fan of film But it could never really work in a 2 hour film with a stupid budget, and directors and producers with absolutley no vision except for making lots of money. They will RAPE the whole MGS franchise!!! Say No!!! More

yes plz
if done right this will own all,i heard a whisper that hideo wanted to direct, and that he turned down the chance for other directors to take a stab at the saga coz he wanted it done right,if true this bodes well More

Oh god no.......
Possibly my favourite gaming series ever is going to be brutally mauled before my very eyes and then pissed on mercilously. Unless they choose the original Metal Gear Solid storyline and MAKE Hideo Kojima take the directors chair then I will be sure to have my heart liquidised.Kiefer Sutherland or Sawyer from Lost to be Snake, aslong as they practice the voice. Don't Waste It!
The PS1 Metal Gear is rightly hailed as one of the greatest games ever made and in all seriousness probably the closest the playstation has ever come to a truly epic and cinematic experience (barring Res Evil franchise). It would never happen but what the hell...Takeshi Miike to direct and Kiefer Sutherland to play Solid Snake - Job done. More

about time
this has been running through the romour mill since the game first came out, but in a world where Bond has rebooted and Bourne kicks arse i don't think there is a need for this. And to be honest if it did happen i don't think therte is anyone who cud play snake! JACKMAN or BALE are two pretty boy now BANA is too scrawny and RUSSEL is too old now! Only person i can think of as a posibility is Kiefer sutherland (JACK BAUER) i think he looks the part and has the voice plus we know he ca act and pul More

This film had better not be four hours long, only twelve minutes of which is action and the rest is reflections on love blossoming on the battlefield, or some sh1t like that. I pray the 'writers' of the game are kept a long, long way from this production. More

Van Damme for Snake.
I'll go out on a limb here and say that Van Damme should play the part of Snake. He's cheap, he's damn sure available and he does have a few fans out there. Hugh Jackman would be way too obvious. He's a fine actor though. More

This could be the biggest DUD that could come out of the Sony studios in years, the game is amazing but i doubt they will hire someone big, ie, Michael Bay or Steven Spielberg, i think they will do the same as they did with The silent Hill make it into another dud, or i may be completely wrong about this adaption. I think they should give the role to someone like Christian Bale and hand the director's role to someone like James Cameron More
