Fire Up The Gaslight
Thriller remake planned

No, you’re not going crazy. Warners Bros is remaking Gaslight.

Joe Wright, who recently directed Pride And Prejudice, will take the helm for his first American film, which revolves around a woman targeted by a money-hungry suitor, who lures her into a house of horrors and tries to make her believe she’s going crazy.

The story is based on a 1938 play by Patrick Hamilton and has been put on the big screen twice before- in 1940 by us Brits and in 1944, in an MGM classic that scooped seven Oscar nominations and saw star Ingrid Bergman take home a statuette. This version will transplant the plot from the UK to the States. There's no word on casting but we'll keep you informed.

So they're going to remake Gaslight eh? Still popular on the Theatre circuit but just wonder what they're going to do it to get the modern audience involved as the studios like to put it! Set it in present day/near future with a psycho killer, pints of blood, and some extra scares that will add nothing to the original thriller story. Woo hoo! More

Can't Hollywood come up with some original ideas? I am getting sick of remakes and endless sequals, no wonder box office takings are down. More
