Westworld Revisited
Joel Silver to remake sci-fi classic

Producer Joel Silver has set his eyes on 1973 sci-fi classic Westworld as a prime candidate to be reborn with 21st century digital technology. According to Variety, the camp, killer robots that caused such mayhem in the 70s classic may soon find themselves getting an overhaul with cutting edge CGI.

The original, written and directed by Michael Crichton, sees an amusement park populated by androids go pear-shaped when the mechanical marvels – headed by Yul Brynner – decide that performing for humans is decidedly less fun than a killing them.

Silver has enlisted screenwriter Richard D’Ovidio to overhaul the script, which is to be fairly true to the original, but with the addition of a ‘modern twist’ to the story.
