Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Up For Gods Of Egypt
He's in talks for Alex Proyas' new project

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

To some, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is already a god thanks to his work on Game Of Thrones and elsewhere, but it appears he’s itching to play an actual deity in Alex Proyas’ new epic fantasy outing, Gods Of Egypt.

Summit Entertainment is backing this one, which features a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, and will arrive on screen after some tweaking from Proyas.

Gods Of Egypt is set, as you might expect, in ancient Egypt. When Osiris is killed, his son Horus (Coster-Waldau, assuming he signs a deal) teams up with Hathor, the goddess of love and a human thief, to seek vengeance.

This one is bubbling merrily away in development and Proyas will no doubt be hoping that it has a better time of it than his last big project, the troubled Paradise Lost.

When he’s not making his way through Westeros as Jaime Lannister, Coster-Waldau has been putting time in on the big screen in the likes of Mama and a smaller role in Oblivion. He’s most recent wrapped A Thousand Times Good Night with Juliette Binoche and has moved on to shoot Nick Cassavetes’ comedy The Other Woman alongside Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann.

Deception of Truth
The days of you white boys producing movies about Ancient Africa painted white are through. I am a grandmother with 7 grands and have thoroughly educated them about the lies the media plays and how movies make the world think that ONLY white people did cool things. If any of you had any integrity you would at least cast honestly and have an African cast that truly depicts who the REAL Kings and Queens were doing this time in Africa. But as the saying goes, you can't throw pearls at swine........ More

This is utterly disgusting
How is it OK for a white man to play an EGYPTIAN god?? Egypt is in Africa and the whitewashing of one of their gods is despicable. Yes, let's insert white actors as the lead of every major production, regardless of whether it's appropriate of not. Everyone involved with this casting choice should be ashamed of themselves for continuing the tradition of racism in the film industry. More
