New Still From The Set Of Wolf Creek 2
The Ballad of Mick Taylor continues

Stories along the lines of "Wolf Creek 2 seems to be underway" have been popping up for years now, but here, finally, is actual photographic evidence that director Greg Mclean and star John Jarratt are back in the outback, composing the follow-up to one of the most brutally gruelling movies of recent times.

Recent? It was actually way back in 2005 that we last saw atrocious Aussie Mick Taylor doing his dubious thing to an unsuspecting group of backpackers. Well, they were initially unsuspecting. They soon learned. Talk turned to a sequel immediately: Wolf Creek was Australia's biggest hit of its release year, and its biggest adult-rated movie of all time. Mclean felt he'd cracked a workable screenplay by 2010, but it's still taken this long to get the thing up and running.

The trick was, Mclean said a couple of years ago, "maintaining the logic and rules of the first movie [whilst ensuring] its link to reality and the true crime genre is never lost," (the first film was loosely based on the real life case of murdered backpacker Peter Falconio). Now, Mclean has explained that "I'm not really interested in gore and blood and stuff. I'm interested in why Mick Taylor connected with Australian audiences. It's not about being a horror film. It's because Mick is something else, something deep and dark in the Australian psyche."

Wolf Creek 2 is shooting right now. There are no international distribution or release details as yet.

RE: RE: Is that an official poster or something created by Empire?
A strange decision then! If you're making a sequel then you'd be expected to have more sense than to draw comparisons to a weak movie that itself was a sequel. More

RE: Is that an official poster or something created by Empire?
Not guilty! I believe it's a sales poster from the American Film Market. More

Is that an official poster or something created by Empire?
I ask the question because the tag-line is a rip-off from Predator 2 which seems like an unlikely faux pas More

Loved Wolf Creek, but the tagline on that poster?! 80's cheesy slasher film much?! More
