Broken City Trailer Shoots In
'There are some wars you fight...'

04 October 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Apple

What do you do if you’re a former cop now working as a low-rent private detective and the powerful mayor of New York offers you a hefty pay day to find out who has been sleeping with his wife? If you’re Mark Wahlberg’s Billy Taggart, you take the job – but soon regret it. That’s the gist of the first trailer for Broken City, which you can watch above or over at Apple’s site in HD.

See, Billy is able to find out who the mayor’s wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones) has been cheating with. But as it turns out, his honour (Russell Crowe) isn’t just looking for a divorce – a point made lethally clear when his wife’s lover turns up dead.

Soon, Billy is entangled with the mayor’s schemes, blackmailed into silence by evidence of past wrongdoings. But the politician has picked the wrong guy to mess with... And Billy is looking to find a way out, even if it means sinking to a similar level.

The poster for the movie has also arrived online and can be seen in the gallery below.

With Allen Hughes directing, Broken City looks like it could be a decent thriller, even if certain moments appear a little by-the-numbers. We’ll find out when the movie arrives on January 25.
