First Lords Of Salem Trailer Online
Rob Zombie goes operatic

04 October 2012  |  Written by James White

Rob Zombie has been carving out an interesting directing career, even if he has stuck to horror so far. But while he’s not exactly shifting gears with The Lords Of Salem, the new movie certainly has a very different style from the likes of his Halloween efforts or House Of 1000 Corpses. Check out the first trailer above.

Focusing on tone rather than plot, the Lords trailer appears to indicate that Zombie is channelling the likes of Ken Russell and even Stanley Kubrick for his latest, with those wide room shots, strange pagan imagery and disturbing shifts.

But some things have at least remained the same – the film stars Zombie’s wife and muse Sheri Moon Zombie as a radio DJ receiving a mysterious package that invites her and her team to the haunted city of Salem for a gig.

But when they arrive, they discover the place has been taken over by witches and the titular Lords, who are looking for revenge.

There’s no word a solid release date yet, though the film played the Toronto Film Festival and Anchor Bay nabbed a deal to release it in the US. Expect it some time next year.

I don't love Zombie's output, but there's no denying he's offering up something different, and that needs commending. More
