Yogi Bear

All right... Own up! Who wished for this on the monkey’s paw? Come on... Somebody must have, because now the world is getting a sequel to Yogi Bear, and Warner Bros. has hired Broken Lizard man / Dukes Of Hazzard co-writer / director Jay Chandrasekhar to pen the script and call the shots.

In the original Yogi film’s defence, it earned a little over $200 million worldwide, so there was definitely some audience connection there. And how many movies bring you the voice talents of Dan Aykroyd AND Justin Timberlake at once?

We’re mostly pinning our hopes on Chandrasekhar bringing some much-needed Lizard wit and subversion to the sequel, even if it means drafting in the rest of his comedy troupe to pitch in jokes. Because while Hazzard didn’t exactly have us laughing much, he’s still one of the people who brought the world Super Troopers and we know he can deliver the goods comedy with his work on TV, including Happy Endings, Community and Chuck.

But please, for the love of Boo Boo... No dancing this time. And put a little more thought into the plot for once.

How did you greet the news of a Yogi sequel?
My kids liked it, so I'm in.
I found it funny. I'll watch.
Meh. More sequels/CG/remakes
I'm good, thanks.
Does anyone know where I can rent a fallout shelter for 500 years?
