Exclusive Up There Trailer
With stills from Zam Salim's debut

Back in 2008, Zam Salim created a short film called Laid Off. A critical smash and a minor YouTube sensation, it told the tale of a man that had died but lived on in an earth-bound purgatory until he was worthy of going up to heaven. Here today is the first trailer for the feature length version, Up There, starring Game Of Thrones/Torchwood/The Dark Knight Rises' Burn Gorman as Martin, a recently deceased man who wants to get Up There after being knocked down by a car.

Winner of the Panavision Spirit Award - the top prize at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2012 - and co-starring Kate O'Flynn (Happy-Go-Lucky), Aymen Hamdouchi (Green Zone), it also features the acting takents of Chris Waitt (A Complete History of My Sexual Failures), Jo Hartley (Dead Man's Shoes, Ill Manors), Iain de Caestecker (The Fades, Young James Herriott), and Kirsty Strain (Burnistoun, River City).

The film also features all the expected-but-still-inappropriate gawping and gaping through windows, and there's obviously plenty of awkward fun to be had with dead characters trying to ignore nearby living people passionately fornicating as they try to get on with their lives. Or, rather, deaths. Or limbos. Or what-have-you.

Check out the world's first trailer for the film below to get a better feel for this bittersweet dark comedy, and after that, take a look at four stills from the film.

And if you're curious about Salim's original short film, Laid Off, here it if for you below, clocking in and around about 10 minutes. If you have the time and are intrigued, give it a whirl and let us know what you think in the comment box below.

Up There is out in UK cinemas on November 16.
