Drew Barrymore Sees The End
Directing an apocalypse drama

Drew Barrymore Sees The End

As if recent Steve Carell / Keira Knightly romantic comedy drama Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World wasn’t enough of a meditation on people facing a planet-ending disaster, Drew Barrymore wants a piece of the apocalypse action, signing on to direct The End for Warner Bros.

Telly veteran Aron Eli Coleite wrote the script, which apparently tends towards an uplifting tone despite being about various characters dealing with the impending end of all life on Earth.

Among the plots is a older London radio DJ ( think T-WOG$, who is apparently “ready for dem”) who plans to stay at his mixing desk playing the hits until the big finish; a father attempting to plough through Tokyo’s chaos to find his wife and child, and an American couple trying to decide which of their families to visit before the end.

Barrymore, who has at least two other projects on the go, Heist Society and How To Be Single, is planning to stay behind the camera for this one, and is aiming to keep the budget modest as she did with directorial debut Whip It
