Iron Man 3 Concept Art Arrives
Tony Stark, caged

03 July 2012  |  Written by Ali Plumb

After being told by Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige that Tony Stark would be be "cut off from the world and need to focus on his intellect to get himself out of his situation", it was a wonder just how Iron Man 3 writer/director Shane Black would go about it - but new online concept art offers some tantalising clues.

Dubbed 'Caged' by the artist, Ryan Meinerding, the piece shows Mr. Stark in a rather awkward situation: somehow he's ended up with only part of his suit on and he's surrounded by armed assailants.

Has his suit been removed (in part) by others? Is this a new suit entirely, with the unusual alternate finger-colouring and all? Is this, in fact, the Extremis armour?

Those who've read the Extremis arc of the comic books will be able to draw their own techno-organic and nanobot-based conclusions, but all in all, it's another intriguing glimpse into this new, somehow Avengers-less world of Mr. Stark.

Iron Man 3 will be out on May 13, 2013, whether everyone's favourite genius billionaire playboy philanthropist is fully dressed or not.

Because Wolverine was so unbelievable...
Metal coming out from inside your body - ridiculous - all other Marvel tech has been fastidiously achievable so far (Hulk, repulsors, Asgard/Bifrost, SuperSoldierSerum, tesseract, helicarrier, blah, etc)... More

Maybe he's trying to start some new kind of super hero fashion trend of only wearing a boot and long glove as their costumes? More

I think that drastically upgrading the armour every film would quickly become ridiculous, they should stick to the Avengers suit for this in my opinion. More

I love Iron Man and I've watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang enough times for it to be considered a problem. It literally can't be May soon enough. More

Possible Spilers regarding Suit!
Possible Spilers regarding Suit! I really hope this isn't the bio armour from Extremis. That was one of the silliest most stupid things to ever happen to Iron Man. I like how the Iron Man films have tried to ground the mechanics of the suit in a form of believable reality. If they introduce the suit that comes from out of his skin and is controlled by his mind then it will turn into complete farce! More
