More Cast Enter Stallone's Tomb
Jones! D'Onofrio! Ryan! Fiddy!

More Cast Enter Stallone's Tomb

As if there weren't already enough testosterone in Mikael Hafstrom and Sylvester Stallone's prison break actioner, it's just been announced that Vinnie Jones is joining Sly, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Caviezel in The Tomb. He's only one of a batch of four new cast members that also includes Vincent D'Onofrio, Amy Ryan and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson.

Given the jail-based setting you'd be forgiven for thinking that you were looking at a new bunch of convicts (barring Ryan, who would have to be the victim of a serious administrative error to be locked up with that lot). But you'd be wrong. D'Onofrio is playing the deputy director of the prison, and Jones is a guard (who we'd speculate is going to be less Brian Wilde and more, well, Vinnie Jones).

Ryan, meanwhile, is Stallone's business partner on the outside. But we don't know who Fiddy's playing, so we may see him in clink yet.

As previously reported, The Tomb sees Stallone playing Ray Breslin, the world's greatest designer of utterly impregnable high-tec prisons, who has to beat one of his own unbeatable systems to escape after being framed and wrongfully convicted of something or other. Schwarzenegger is playing kindly old lag Church, and Caviezel is the prison's villainous warden. He should watch Lock Up and see how that turned out for Donald Sutherland.

Shooting starts sometime soon, for a release in 2013.

PS...
... Vincent D'Onofrio might actually be the only one who can save this film, assuming that he gets more than 10 mins screen-time. More

Oh dear...
I was really looking forward to this movie and I was, by no means, assuming this would be a serious action movie. I mean it's a Stallone movie. But, is no-one on this movie taking it seriously? Vinnie Jones? Curtis Jackson? Tell me what they could possibly deliver to a Stallone film? Their track record doesn't inspire confidence. Oh well, I'll keep waiting for Bullet To The Head and Expendables 2. At least I know what I'll be paying for. More
