Three Amigos! Gets A Blu-Ray Release

Three Amigos! Gets A Blu-Ray Release

Here’s something we’ve been eagerly awaiting for a while now: cult comedy ¡Three Amigos! Is finally going to see the light of day on a brand new Blu-Ray release. And while there are no specifics on the extras just yet, we do know that Empire’s special reunion article on the movie, featuring the cast and director looking back at the shoot, will be included.

The gang at Twitch picked up on a press release from HBO Home Entertainment, which reveals that the Amigos will ride onto the format on November 22 this year. That, of course, will be the Region One release, so you’ll have to import it for now, though we expect to get details of a British equivalent as soon as possible.

For those unacquainted with the story, ¡Three Amigos! finds three preening, unemployed actors from the silent era accepting a request from a Mexican village for what they think will simply be an easy pay day – show up, put on a performance where they "defeat" a local gang and get the cash. But what they don’t realise is that the locals are being terrorised by actual bandits led by the evil El Guapo. And soon the heroic trio is in over their heads...

Featuring Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short in the lead roles, and John Landis as the man calling the shots, Amigos is one you need to see. And now you can, in shiny high-definition! All the better to make out the invisible swordsman.

If you simply want to read the article, penned by Empire’s own Nick DeSemlyen, check out the June edition.

Quite right
Purcahsed this on DVD the other day and hadn't seen it since I was a youngster. Excellent film, with so many laugh out loud moments, although a personal favourite (that wasway over my head as a youngster) has to be the exchange between Rosita and Dusty Bottoms: R - perhaps later we could go for a walk and you could kiss me on the veranda? DB - On the lips will be fine. Genius. More
