Ethan Hawke Has Total Recall
He'll crop up in a cameo

10 May 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Heat Vision Blog

While no one in the new version will be getting their ass to Mars (“get your eyes to New Shanghai” just doesn’t have the same ring, sadly), Ethan Hawke is getting his ass to Len Wiseman’s take on Total Recall, signing on for a role in the movie.

The Heat Vision Blog’s report doesn’t specify which role exactly, only that it’s a hush-hush secret (except for the fact that it, er, exists at all) and that it’ll be a cameo. We’re sort of crossing our fingers that they’re keeping the Johnny Cab element and Hawke will be slathered in plastic prosthetics to wisecrack his way through the part.

Colin Farrell is the star this time around, replacing the original’s Arnold Schwarzenegger. The story shoves the concept of a man who starts to think he might be a spy back to Earth, focusing on a factory working toiling away in New Shanghai, a nation state in constant cold war with Euromerica.

Bryan Cranston is the film’s big bad, while Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are likely to be playing Farrell’s wife and a woman he meets on his mission to discover the truth. Wiseman kicks off shooting the movie next month in Toronto.
