Exclusive: New Coraline Poster
Latest look at stop-motion sensation

17 November 2008  |  Written by Helen O'Hara

It's the new film from author Neil "godlike genius" Gaiman and stop-motion direct Henry "godlike genius" Selick, so you just know we're excited about Coraline. Which means that we're doubly excited to bring you the brand-new international poster for the film, showcasing its quirky, spooky look.

The story follows the titular Coraline, an ordinary girl who moves into a flat in a new house with her parents. Quirky strangers live in the other two flats of the house - retired actresses Miss Forcible and Miss Spark next door, and retired circus performer Mr Bobo upstairs. But it's in a fourth part, behind an apparently bricked up door, that Coraline finds a fantasy world inhabited by her Other Mother and Other Father, who initially seem better than the real thing, but are terribly anxious to convince her to stay with them instead of returning home.

The film's voice cast includes Dakota Fanning as Coraline, with Teri Hatcher, Ian McShane, Keith David, Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French. Selick directs, and adapted the screenplay from Gaiman's book.

The film is released in the UK on March 20 2009, and in the US on February 6.

Marvelous
Anything that Neil Gaiman is attached to is okay by me. Mirrormask was good (if a little unoriginal) - it was just a Alice in Wonderland story. Still was miles better than Terry Gilliams similar tale Tideland. Now a movie version/HBO mini series of American Gods please. More

RE:
Raclements: Gaiman’s books, especially n Godss , are amazing, and yes should come under the heading of "godlike genius"; dark, imaginative and funny. However, the film adaptation of Stardustt, sentimental and a massive disappointment; not to mention the frankly nauseating De Niro performance (I am barely keeping my coffee down even thinking about it). On the strength of Stardust, I would vehemently oppose the above titles being made into live action films, but the tone of things like Mirror More

Loved the book, but maybe it's coming out too soon after the similarly themed Mirrormask? More

'Godlike genius'..? Seriously people- am I the only one who thinks that Gaiman is not half as good a writer as he seems to believe he is..? More
