Sony And Paramount Team For Tintin
Spielberg and Jackson films back on

It's been on and off more often than a lightswitch, but it looks like Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's Tintin is a go project once again, as the pair are in talks with Paramount and Sony to partner on a deal to make two films (and perhaps a third).

Spielberg would direct the first Tintin film and Jackson the second in a proposed trilogy, although no director has been hired for the third and a script has not yet been written for that one. They would be released jointly bt the studios, with Paramount covering the US and some other English-speaking territories and Sony the rest of the world (it's not clear which category we fall into in the UK).

Spielberg had hoped to start shooting in the autumn, but he delays over financing have led to the chosen lead, Thomas Sangster, becoming engaged elsewhere. The 3-D motion-capture extravaganza should still be ready for a 2010 release, however.

Spielberg and Jackson have chosen three stories of the 23 that Herge wrote on which to base their trilogy, so let's all have fun trying to guess which ones. We'll start: probably not Tintin In The Congo.

Awesome!
I think this a great idea. I loved them a few years back. Sad that Thomas Sangster won't be the lead any more. He would've been perfect! More

Or Tin Tin in America
I liked some of the books as a kid but this is a terrible idea. It has vanity project written all over it. I agree with everyone here who reckons Spielberg should stop pissing about and get on with Lincoln. Whatever happened to imagination like we got with Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders or ET? And motion capture? Waste of time. More

Tintin yawwwwwwwwwn!
Hergé's Adventures of Tintin....does anybody else think Tintin is boring??? Tintin is so mediocre and I dont say that about classics often. Its a giner haired kid with a shit quiff, his annoying hamster on a leash and his gay sailor frend...all with the personality of a a mouldy chip come on Hollywood....give us something better...... it just seems like yawwwnarma city...what a waste of cinematic time there's so many more worth while books/comics to be produced! Other two-parter
There is another Tintin two-parter that keeps on getting skipped... Tintin in the Far East ("Cigars of the Pharoah" and "The Blue Lotus"). I think it would be better than the moon missions... The moon adventure isn't quite epic enough for cinema. More

I thought that it was official that they are doing the two-parters: The Secret of the Unicorn / Red Rackham's Treasure, Destination Moon / Explorers on the Moon and The Seven Crystal Balls / Prisoners of the Sun. IMO, I wouldn't mind it if they ditched the moon-stories. More

RE: Sony And Paramount Team For Tintin
Working on a Sunday Helen? Hope you have the morning off! p; I really hope the finance on this gets sorted and the films can push ahead. I'm not sure how worrying it is that the, to my mind, impressive team of Spielberg and Jackson are having such trouble getting funding. Does the delay mean that they have to re-cast Tintin? It's not too clear from the Variety article either if they've lost Sangster outright, or just have to move dates.   Seeing as it mentions that there's no script More
