Get Ready For Shoe Addicts Anonymous
Adaptation of chick-lit novel on its way

Galgos Entertainment has picked up the big-screen (and TV) rights to Shoe Addicts Anonymous, a novel that made the New York Times' best-seller list earlier this year.

And no prizes for guessing that – yes – it's a chick-lit novel. And you can trace the genesis of this project back to the success of movies like The Devil Wears Prada and the Sex And The City movie. It's not unlike the recent superhero boom – once people go gaga over one guy in spandex, suddenly Hollywood snaps up every graphic novel on the newsstand.

And it's the same with chick-lit. This one, though, sounds particularly calculating in its appeal – it's about a support group for shoe addicts (OMG! Women totally love shoes, right?), with four of its members (you know – there's four of them, like Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte!) quickly getting caught up in the tangled web of each other's lives.

Writer-actress Laurie Taylor-Williams has been charged with adapting the book to the big screen, while the movie will be produced by Mark Bozek – former CEO of the Home Shopping Network, FYI - and Russell Nuce. No director or studio is yet attached, so it could well be very early days.
