That's great news! As long as they keep to the comics for once. Would be quite interesting to see M.J get killed and Gwen step into the role of G/F - Raimi seems to be doing everything backwards - so why not? Shia isn't a good enough actor IMO - although I agree we need the Spidey sarcasim and jokes. Too much of the graphic novels are being lost in these movies. I loved Spidey 3 (apart from Venom being squeezed in and Pete's unforgivable forgiving to everyone)

One serious misfire with the 3rd installment and you want a reboot!!?Have faith people, the first 2 were fine movies, and until the Dark knight raised the bar a considerable level this year, the finest Superhero movies to date.Raimi staying on board hopefully means less studio interference than in 3,can't see how he'd have stayed on if he wasn't in control. We just need an upbeat, wisecracking Spidey, tone down the heartbreak and soap operay, and we are set.Oh,and please people,a big no to Shia Lebouf, More

The first thing for Raimi to do would be to get Peter to grow up emotionally. He must be by this time over his pseudo-qualms about his great power coming with great responsibility. Let him accept his gift and be happy about it.
Also, a good thing would be to tone down or remove the "constantly mourning uncle Ben" element. We get it, he feels bereft, enough though.
Thirdly, Raimi should avoid juggling multiple villains this time. Stick to one, that might work better this time.

I'd like to point out that there would be no crossovers from Spiderman or other characters from Marvel into Spiderman i.e. Kingpin. Sony only own the right to Spiderman and Kingpin is owned by Fox hence his inclusion in Daredevil. This would also mean that X-Men crossover would not happen and also the Avengers movie will not feature any of the above. It sucks a bit but hey ho. Simple rule needs to be followed for the next ones, don't have too many villains 1 or 2 max per picture get some character development going, that's what I felt was the prob with 3 too many villains and not enough development on each i.e sandman and venom. I didn't care or have any feeling about those two especially venom. More

"once you find out who the villain is, you'll know who's playing it." - hmmmmm well the only obvious casting/villains i can think of is either thomas haden church back as sandman, bruce cambell as mysterio, topher grace back as venom (there was no body!) or dylan baker as the lizard. Either way im super excited love spiderman cant wait for two more! More

RE: Oh F**k Off Spider-Man
Last time I checked Stan Lee created the concepts for Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk, Daredevil, Fantastic Four and the majority of their support casts. In terms of taking credit for 'other people's work' I am very sure he never once limited the creative impact of the artists he worked with like Kirby, Ditko, |Romita and others.
Also, to further help the Zeitgeist's comments gain some clarity it might be best if you changed Marvel Exec to Sony Exec, as the amount of money the three films m More

RE: Raimi And Maguire Back For More Spideys?
It was a shame they felt the need to kill off venom, however a venom/carnage double header (with venom finding a new host) would be good. But with a venom movie in the pipeline it may be a case of overkill on that option...
Failing that, the introduction of Kingpin, Rhino and Electro (not all three mind as the last film proved "too many cooks and all that") would be welcomed by myself... however not so sure about Michael Duncan Clarke reprising the role though as it'd bring up too many bad More

personally, I never felt that Maguire excelled in the role. he's far too doe-eyed and dull to excel in a role where the character is supposed to be bundle of nervous energy with constant bantering and one-liners. he made the character of Peter Parker DULL. the role should have gone to Topher Grace, whose Eddie Brock was a far more enjoyable character to watch More

Cool
Let's hope Sony leave Raimi alone to do his own thing this time. Sandman was ace in the last film but you could see the seems between that and the Sony tacked on Venom. Urgh.
Lizard or Mysterio (Bruce Cambell could play him as an out of work actor/stunt man and it's revealed he was the same character all the while) would be my choice. But the statement makes me wonder, will the villain be a 'resurected' Norman Osbourne? Sinister six? I hope not. More

The Lizard as the baddie
The Lizard would be the best baddie for these films, it would give it a whole new area which spidey's not delved into yet. Forget about Venom, the pansey that played him in 3 was bad casting (cosidering that Eddie has always been a much older muture and well built guy in the comics) and Sandman could have, should have been the main baddie. However,4 and 5 shot back to back makes me think lessons learned from the 3rd film and they will have 2 baddies over two movies. The Vulture could work, so co More

Getting excited
This is very exciting news.
I think the 3rd film is still enjoyable but obviously doesn't hit the heights of number 2. I think filming them back2back will allow for a more expansive storyline and bad guy arc.
Would be interesting to see if Stark or Banner make appearances in it - that would be cool.

opps this can go titts up or be omthing great and save it from its mistake from what they did in Spiderman 3. part 3 had to much singing this is spider man not some stupid Musical. and venom was forced to be in the movie. i can still see Venom comming back tho all they have to do is come up with a decent story with how he got away. as lets face it how could that Bomb compleatly distory Venom when the very same bomb just scares Harry Osborne's face,
but since Remi dont like Venom its not More
