First Look At Josh Brolin As George Bush
In Oliver Stone's Dubya movie, W

08 May 2008  |  Written by Olly Richards  |  Source: EW

Remember the first time you saw the Cloverfield monster? This is kind of like that. When we first saw Josh Brolin in character as President George W Bush in Oliver Stone's W, we re-coiled from our screens and searched for someone bigger to hide behind until the bad thing went away. Click the cover image below to head through to the large version. Be warned, if you're at work, try to keep the squeals to a minimum.

In an incredibly early preview piece (the film hasn't even started shooting yet), Entertainment Weekly spoke to Stone, Brolin and Elizabeth Banks about plans for the film about the unpopular President's life. You can read the full piece here, but one particularly interesting part is that Stone sees the film as "Capra-esque".

First Look At Josh Brolin As George Bush
Click the image to read the full EW article

"Bush may turn out to be the worst president in history,'' Stone says. ''I think history is going to be very tough on him. But that doesn't mean he isn't a great story. It's almost Capra-esque, the story of a guy who had very limited talents in life, except for the ability to sell himself. The fact that he had to overcome the shadow of his father and the weight of his family name — you have to admire his tenacity. There's almost an Andy Griffith quality to him, from A Face in the Crowd. If Fitzgerald were alive today, he might be writing about him. He's sort of a reverse Gatsby.''

It certainly all sounds very interesting – although we think Capra had much more heart-warming endings – and it's a great little piece on the film. One more thing, Brolin really reminds us of someone else in that picture, but we can't work out who it is. Can you help? And, no, it's not James Brolin.

Have no idea who he remsembles but that picture is freaking me out. Can't stop looking at it.   If you want a inside look at George Bush you should try and find the documentary Journeys with George by Alexandra Pelosi (daughter of Nancy) as she works as part of the press corps following him around on the plane. He is an interesting character to say the least. More

HMMMM...
does anyone else think that Brolin more closely resembles john culshaw from dead ringers doing a really bad version of Bush? Its gonna depend on how Brolin handles the accent i think because it could have an accidental comic effect if not done correctly. Banks on the other hand looks like the spitting image of Laura Bush which scares the crap out of me!! I have faith in Stone to make this an interesting movie depiction of Bush's life and time in office though and look forward to seeing it More
