Gandolfini In Taking Of Pelham 1, 2, 3
Joining Travolta and Washington

24 March 2008  |  Written by Olly Richards  |  Source: Variety

Tony Scott's remake of The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three has added James Gandolfini to its cast. The Sopranos star will play a politician under pressure to bring an end to stop a group of criminals (lead by John Travolta) who are holding a packed subway car to ransom. Denzel Washington is already cast as the cop trying to stop them.

ridiculous
i doesn't matter how much talent they throw into this it wont be as good as the original, why dont they remake crap films turning them into good films instead of turning already good films into crap (psycho, poseidon adventure) there are plenty of films out there with good ideas that have been poorly executed so why cant people pick those films and remake them better than the original More

RE:
This film is just wrong. I'm awaiting that bears little resemblence to the original, complete with lots of explosions and trademark Tony Scott annoying editing. More

I think this movie will be underated by many critics. But am looking forward to Denzel Washington in this movie, an actor who is reliable and amazing to watch everytime he graces the screen. Hopefully this movie can re-ignite John Travolta's career, again. Gandolfini should be a good mayor in this movie but let's wait and see who else is cast before passing judgement More

i think Gandolfini is a great movie actor, he can do more than mafia hoods. And with travolta at his movie best as a villan it'll be a great film. and goes without saying, iv never seen a bad movie that has denzil in it. More

Hypochondriac mayor?
Is Gandolfini going to be in bed, sneezing and cursing for half the movie? The mayor in the original (classic quote: 'sh*t, p*ss, f*ck!') was one of the many small touches that made Joseph Sargent's original such a delight. The casting for the remake sounds ace, but why remake a movie that was really rather good in the first case? Oh, it's the big ol' question. I hope they keep David Shire's ultra-cool score. And at least I can probably look forward to a double-disc release of the original. More
