More Oddness From Cloverfield
View the bizarre Slusho advert

06 December 2007  |  Written by Olly Richards

With the psychadelic Speed Racer pics and now this new offering from the Cloverfield marketing campaign, we're starting to think we sprinkled acid on our cornflakes instead of sugar*.

In case you don't know, Slusho is a fake brand that is part of the universe for Cloverfield, the upcoming JJ Abrams produced monster movie. The Slushy type drink has been subtly used in the film's trailer, cropped up in episodes of Heroes and has its own website, here.

This new advert doesn't actually give us any new information or footage from Cloverfield, but it does have a giant space moose and makes us pretty happy, in a vaguely frightened way.

*Can you sprinkle acid? We don't know, we're pretty much drug-free, except for Lemsip. Luuuurve de Lemsip.

Fuck me, I missed that issue (only re-joined Empire readership about 7-8 months ago). Superman is staggeringly average, for something of that ilk to get a coverted 5 stars. Oh well, as Helen said on other topic, sometimes they get it wrong. It's hard not to when you're reviewing about 50 films a month.   But Superman... awww God! The DVD is worth its weight in cow shit... More

L: livewire Like my dad used to say "son, never mix you drugs, particulary Cocaine and LSD. The last thing you wasnt is hallucinations with confidence" Seriously though, 5 stars. How out of your fucking boxes were you. have you been sniffing keith richards again. sp; I beleive Empires comments were "..the first genuine blockbuster of the summer!"   Get that film into the Empire Movie Trial now, if it's not already there! L: keyzersaulsie ... then there's nothing to explain Superman Returns five star rating. sp; WHAT!? Is that what it got!? Oh my sweet baby Jesus. It's fucking awful.   Sprinkling adic just doesn't make sense. Sounds like something someone would do in Brass Eye (like getting off your mash on ectasy pipes). More

acid
You can sprinkle acid if you got the blotting paper variety and cut it up into really little bits and sprinkled it like confetti. Or you could sprinkle microdots like hundreds and thousands. Don't though, you'd go mental, probably forever. More

Slusho website
The website talks about how Slusho was made, some unique ingredient from the bottom of the sea. In the creators dream he drunk the ingredient and grew larger. Maybe its hinting that the monster in Cloverfield drank the ingredient and grew larger or something. More

Ooh, I've cracked the code!
When rearranging the letters in Slusho, you get the words So Lush! Now I know that this has nothing to do with the film, but hey, maybe within the whole marketing maddness of JJ Abrams mind, he also wants to bring back the Slushy! More

So, so...
...so very weird! There was an uber quick flash of something at the end, which I thought might be something, but turned out to be just a chimpanzee zooming past a mountainy rock face waving a flag with cheese on it - no nothing to see there then! :) More
