| Great actors and crap script choices |
seriously, what's going on? Whilst Norton emphasised his talent in performances in films like primal fear, fight club, and American historyX his choices of late have been a bit weird - ok apparently he was contractually oblidged to appear in the poor Italian Job remake, but the Hulk?? I really hope I'm wrong but I think he'll be wasted on this film as well. More

We all know the the transporter was utter cack. just to see letterier's name next to the hulk makes me slightly sick. i have a bad feeling about this. edward norton is a great choice there's no doubt about it, but the cgi and over-the-top action is surely going to distract the viewer from the actual character of bruce banner. zak penn could salvage this but as i said, i have a very bad feeling! Fuck yeah, this is just superb casting, first the inspired choice of Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, and now this? Good show Marvel. My expectations for The Incredible Hulk were very low, since everything leading up to this has indicated that the film would be nothing more than a dumber, louder, more action filled version of Ang Lee's film, which I really liked.

One last point....I agree with EMPIRE in saying the The Hulk was a really good film if a bit too deep for a coimc book action film, but hey at least it was different and don't forget the really cool editing!!

I am a huge fan of Ed Norton but if i am honest this news drew a single reaction from me, total miscast. One of the perceived problems with the first one (i actually liked it mind you) was it was less of a Superhero movie and more of an examination of the id and was probably too introspective.......so what does the stuidio do?....cast Edward Norton !....I am not saying that just because it was criticised the Hulk sequel should be braindead but a bit more spectactle would be nice.

I think this announcement has taken everyone by surprise. I was a fan of the first film and Eric Bana but it was a bit slow paced and serious for a comic book adaption. Bit disappointed Bana never returned but the news about Norton signing on has lessened the blow. The Hulk has the potential to blow everyone away if they get the story right and the fact Norton has signed on the dotted line might just mean they have a script, which excites him. really, really disappointed that marvel are goiing to pretend the first movie never happened.i really liked hulk and thought bana was a great bruce banner.why couldnt they just make an action packed sequel with bana reprising his role?
however, edward norton is a fantastic actor so i might be willing to get over my disappointment and give this new version a chance.i just hope they dont make the hulk grey as has been rumored.

This is great new but we have to remember; It's still being directed by the director of The Transporter. It's still being written by the writter of Fantastic 4, Elektra, and X-Men 3.
I don't understand why Marvel is being so quick to write off Ang Lee's Hulk. It was a great film, and was only made in 2003. This must be the quickest restart in the history of cinema. Either make a sequel, or give it a few years so the orginal isn't still fresh in our minds. And if you can get someone like E More

I liked Lee's Hulk well enough although it made a few missteps for me: I was annoyed by the flashy "comic-book" editing style, which was too "look-at-me-mum" for it's own good and pulled you out the film every time it happened; I thought the accident they used to give Banner his powers was dull in the extreme (you can't beat that Jack Kirby image of a man framed against the sky before a blossoming mushroom cloud - the tension and spectacle in that sequence! Instead we got Bana just standin More

NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i actually screamed that on a train full of people while checking out the website! BEST.CASTING.EVER. I heard he was rumoured to play angel in X3 (but obviously read the script and saw who was directing) But yeh, cannot actually wait for this now! As long as its got a good director i cant wait, i personally thought the first huilk was a good film and worked as a hulk movie, it had all the complexity of teh comics and great acting and pecial effects (i watched it the More

Eh .. The Score and The Italian Job didn't exactly have solid scripts.
You're right as far as The Score goes. But in the case of The Italian Job, Norton did the movie in order to fulfill his contractual obligations to the studio and that was probably the best choice at the time... More

Well like Empire siad, I didn't see this coming. Very cool and interesting choice but chud.com made a good point; Norton loves to be involved with stuff on set he mabe shouldn't, case in point American History X. WHule that film is a classic, he did fuck the director over by the sound of it. The script would have to be really solid for him to agree to star, I assume, but I hope he doesn't try to meddle with it. God Norton as a CGI Hulk? It's going to be a surreal one, that's for sure. Wasn't there a rumour that Norton had passed on The Joker in The Dark Knight? But he will do this?! Er.....
reat casting, might give the film a lift. Still strange that they are re-booting a franchise after just one movie!

I'm really impressed so far with Marvel. They've really gone all out with hiring some great talent for their first two films as a production co. Edward Norton has always been one of my faves ever since I saw him in Primal Fear. I'm also a big fan of the first Hulk film and a fan of Unleashed but not very impressed with Transporter 2. So a bit of a mixed bag. I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it. More

Almost fell off my seat when I saw thet Norton was down for the role of Banner / Hulk, but an interesting choice, well I reckon he could pull it off... and as much as I didn't like the other Hulk movie, Bana was good, and it would have been interesting to see if he could have revived the role of the Hulk but under a differant director. It's about the director not the actor. Ang Lee's film was far more cerebral than the usual comic book fare. I guess the majority of audiences want mindless action though. Sigh. More

Really surprised when I saw the headline, but in a good way. Especially considering the previous rumours, stratham, purcell, etc, Norton will ensure it's not a B-movie follow up! I reckon it'll push up the votes on the Empire poll too! More
