The 100 Greatest Games | 80 | Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Despite action so bewilderingly fast that hoarier gamers struggle to see what the hell is going on, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has quickly become a favourite with a younger generation of Nintendo fans. Featuring a range of characters that made Nintendo famous - Mario! Luigi! Link! Donkey Kong! And more! - and a smattering of third-party heroes such as Solid Snake, SSB Brawl is essentially the biggest, messiest wet dream imaginable for videogame fans, and was the fastest selling Nintendo game of all time in the US when it was released last year.

Memorable for...
Being deceptively simple. While randomly pushing attack buttons is enough to get enjoyment from the fisticuffs, SSB Brawl's cheery exterior belies a deep and complex fighting game, and a brawler that can hold its own against more established franchises.
