Working with the mantra 'less is more', the developers of Ico created a minimalist adventure game that nails a great idea and runs with it in the most direct way possible rather than choosing to embellish simple action with a blitzkrieg of graphical flourishes and bombastic presentation. A classic story of boy saves girl, the action sees the hero building bridges and solving puzzles to save his feeble partner, always ready to jump in and save the day when shadowy monsters try to haul her off into another dimension.

Being utterly unappreciated. Despite the praise heaped on it by critics and players alike, Ico achieved poor sales around the world. However, largely by word of mouth, more and more players are seeking out old copies of the game, and it's rapidly becoming a cult classic.
