High point of The Bitmap Brothers' game-making career, Speedball 2 is widely held as the definitive future sports title. Nine-a-side teams clad in armour had to pass a steel ball and try and hurl it into the opponent's goal. Simple enough, but the gameplay was fast enough to be downright frantic when two players were involved and the blood thirsty ethos (you got just as many points for crippling an enemy team member as actually scoring a goal) made it all kinds of anarchic fun.

Memorable for...
Ice Cream, or rather the vendor of such. The occasional cry of Ice cream! Ice cream! became one of the most iconic gaming sound effects of the era.
