Why He's On The List: The funny thing about Patrick Bateman is, deranged killer or no, he's a repugnant human being, a self-absorbed relic of the 'greed is good' era. So disgusting he can't even stomach himself, Patrick is actually the regression into a fantasy world of murder and Huey Lewis & The News by the even less interesting Marcus Halberstram. Of course, this requires a hell of a lot from the actor, and full points to chisel-cheeks Bale for his commitment to the role: there's not many who could keep us fascinated by such a horrible creation, let alone get it onto this list.
Finest Hour: Dropping a chainsaw on a victim from a landing several storeys above.
