Why He's On The List: The seminal rise-and-fall gangster tale received a bold makeover from screenwriter Oliver Stone and director Brian De Palma in 1983. The market was now the South American drugs trade coming in through Miami, the suits were gaudy, and the central performance from Pacino was huge. Tony's lust for power is never sated because he can never have what he truly wants (his sister). Enormously popular in real gangster circles, especially with rappers.
